Dirt Poor Rich music video

Man, what a day today was. We got up early and drove almost two hours outside of Nashville to this amazing farm to shoot my first music video for Dirt Poor Rich. As you know, DPR is a fun party song. There is a line in the song that says “30 minute jet ski, All day pontoon” that may make you think it’s a summer song. But from the first time I heard it, I didn’t think summer song. I thought, “Man, this song is me and how I grew up.” Living in Oregon I hit the back roads in my truck and we had snow several months out of the year. We hit the lake and did the summer thing too, but this song is just about good ole country living. Hanging with friends. Riding four wheelers. Getting muddy. Fishing. Hunting. Throwing back a few beers. It doesn’t matter what season we are in, this was the perfect day to film a video and we had a huge snow storm come through Nashville that made it even better. It’s almost like God was looking at the video shoot day on the calendar and said, Yep, I’m gonna drop some snow in there today to give AJ what he grew up in. I loved it.

I want to thank the INCREDIBLE video director, Dusty Barker with VAYLL Nashville. He captured exactly what this song says to me and what I hope you all hear when you listen to it. Dirt Poor Rich is about growing up with everything, when you may not have much. It’s the times with your friends and the memories you make. Not the “stuff” you have with big bucks.

Thanks also to all of my friends who came out to hang with me today and make this video what I know it’s going to be. We plan to release this video on Friday, Feb 26 so stay tuned!
